A very good summer program is sold out, so you should check it out now if you are interested for next year. They have programs in Colorado, Vermont, Penn State, and France. The website is

Visit to Brynmawr

Monday, February 21, 2011, high school sophomores and juniors are invited to visit classes, eat in a dining hall and spend some time on campus. Your family is invited to learn about college admissions and financial aid.

Columbia University Science Honors Prgram

This is a summer program that is highly selective for students who have a strong interest in science and mathematics. It would certainly help if you are planning on attending college to study one of these subjects.
The tuition is free. The classes are held from 10am to 12:30 pm on Saturdays throughout the academic year. Instructors are scientists and mathematicians who are actively engaged in research at the University

Applicants must be in the 11th, 10th, or 9th grades. The program uses an online application process which you can access at www.columbia.edu/cu/shp/apply.html.

Essays

Don't sent out any essay without letting me look at them first. You can email them to me at cwebb@dsny.org or drop them by my office, but don't send them off first.

CUNY Schools Honors College

Those of you applying to the Honors College of the CUNY schools, which comes with a laptop,a scholarship, and a great education, should know that the deadline is December 1, which means you have to have everything in even sooner than everyone else. The CUNY schools are a really good bargain, and if you are considering them at all, you should make an appointment to see me right away.

College Application Requirements

ALL students applying to college for next fall MUST give me their list of colleges by Friday. It should include at least a few s"safety" colleges.

ALL students applying to college for next fall MUST give all teacher from whom they expect a recommendation the recommendation form and a stamped, addressed envelope before the Thanksgiving break. This includes recommendations from the college counselor.
